I
began studying classical piano at age 5. During my teenage years,
I became interested in synthesizers. I played in several bands with
a heavy influence from progressive rock artists such as Yes
and Genesis. In 1983,
upon graduating high
school I started working at Oberheim
Electronics as an audio technician, testing synthesizers, drum
machines and the like. Later I helped open the North American office
of Steinberg GmbH and for
a while was the nation's leading expert on all things related to
Cubase,
their flagship MIDI and digital audio recorder.

By
1989, I was writing books and teaching people how to use computers
and MIDI, and soon attracted
some well known clients such as Hans
Zimmer, Jeff Lorber and
Lee Ritenour. While at
Steinberg I was introduced to FileMaker, and in the mid-90s began
my career as a custom database developer.
Recently,
I started up a new company, Excelisys,
which provides custom development of business software solutions.
It's a lot of work, but I love what I do.

| Now
I enjoy making music as a creative outlet without the compromises
associated with making a career out of it. On my 34th birthday, I
hosted "Geoff Jam '99" at
The Whale and Ale, an English
pub in San Pedro, CA. I was
joined by some great musicians, both family and friends. It was an
exciting night. Click here to see some
